Cunts
Are Still Running The World Release: 31 July 2006 Numbers: RTRADDS369 Formats: Digital Download / Promotional CD-Rs / DVD Promo Video Sleeve: No credits Download & UK Promotional CD-Rs:
* The 'clean version' has the words Cunts, Shit and Fuck removed. * Note from Jarvis: "I wanted you to hear it now cos it's exactly 1 year since that Live-8 thing & it was the night of that event that I wrote this song. I apologise for all the swearing but sometimes that's the only thing that seems appropriate. It's in no way a criticism of Geldof & co. but I remember thinking at the time: "Where does engaging with these politicians/businessmen really get you?" - (12 months on & the cunts still haven't paid up as far as I can make out) - maybe the problem is something more... fundamental. Anyway, what do I know? I'm just a pampered rock star - but at least I think it's good to discuss this stuff. Don't you?" * Release Sticker (UK clean version): First unleashed on his MySpace page back in July, the controversial online only single has gradually seeped into the public consciousness over the last few months culminating in - wait for it - radio play (something none of us expected to happen given the number of expletives uttered by the great man). It received its first play on Richard Bacon's XFM show and due to the huge positive response from his listeners, it was made his Record Of The Week. You will also find 'Running The World' in the latest acclaimed film by Alfonso Cuarón (director of Y Tu Mamá También) Children Of Men. They requested the track for the roll out credits and Jarvis duly agreed. There's even unedited sing-a-long lyrics to complete the experience. Due to demand, we have had this clean version made, check it out! |

Don't
Let Him Waste Your Time Release: 8 January 2007 Numbers: RTRADSCD385 / RTRADS385 / RTRADSX385 / RTRADESCDP385 Formats: CD / 2x7" Vinyl / Promotional CD Sleeve: The Designers Republic & Jarvis Cocker Highest Chart Position: 36 (UK) CD Single (Double-gatefold Digipak):

* Release Sticker: Having released the now infamous 'Running The World' on download only in the summer, the first single proper is set to be released on 8 January and will be the exquisite 'Don't Let Him Waste Your Time'. It is a track on the album that has been praised in many reviews. When it kicks in with a bang, 'Don't Let Him Waste Your Time' takes an idea of grand musical scale and fills it within the swaggering frame of a memorable instant anthem. A cautionary tale about men's intransigence within relationships, Jarvis struts through it all telling it like it is: "Some skinny bitch walks by in some hotpants / And he's running out the door". Please have a listen and let us know what you think. |

* Release Sticker #1: The second single to be taken from Jarvis' eponymously titled Gold selling album is Fat Children. While all the songs on the album come from personal experience, Jarvis is quick to point out that he wasn't in fact "killed by fat children in the streets of Tottenham", as the song posits, although he has glimpsed them on his trips back home. Jarvis says the song is more about "having fun being nasty about everyone". It's also the album's unabashed rocker. Jarvis is curating this years Meltdown (16th-23rd June) and will be performing alongside acts as diverse as Iggy & The Stooges, Motorhead and The Jesus and Mary Chain. Jarvis will also be performing at Lattitude, V Festival and across Europe. * Release Sticker #2: Jarvis Cocker has a new single: Fresh from the double triumph of 'The Culture Show' and a fascinating South Bank Show, one of England's greatest living icons reminds us why he has this status. This year's 'Meltdown' curator takes the track 'Fat Children' from his first solo album on Rough Trade the critically feted 'Jarvis'. Hear it and weep. Please have a listen and let us know what you think! |
